Currently there are offices and organizations that are hard at work in an effort to try and restore the art deco experience for the world. They are trying to restore homes and offices as well as state buildings so as to preserve this time in the history of our country. In there efforts they have discovered many items and things to use to restore and bring to life that time in history. For many it is important to keep the art deco interior design movement alive and well. It has lived on in one way or another in so many of us and for so long that we do not want to forget this time of the 20s and 30s when so much was happening with small apartment furniture.
We get asked a lot about the wood and construction that is used in hotel furniture and how to tell low quality furniture from high quality furniture. In a lot of cases, you get what you pay for but with furniture prices going lower across the board from lower overseas labor rates, sometimes good items are not that much more expensive than lower quality furniture. Here I am going to tell you about low quality furniture and what to check for. We all know of the running joke about some manufacturers and their "easy" at home assembly with the hundreds of screws, boards and dowels and mostly undecipherable directions. These types of items, called RTA or ready to assemble are not built with quality in mind, most of the time, they are used because they are compact and if you are shipping the items in a shipping container you can get a lot of boxes stacked on top of each other. While these items may be suitable for home use, for long term hotel use they typically cannot stand the wear and tear of high volume usage. Over time, a lot of these designs sag, twist and contort and need to be replaced. So your first question to ask is, is the hotel furniture already assembled?
It can be difficult to furnish your house, especially in todays economy. You will need to spend a lot of money to get matching sets of furniture, and you might need to invest money in furniture that will last longer and hold shape and structure in any kind of weather. If you want furniture that will match with a lot of your existing furniture, and that will last longer without doing any damage to the environment, then you might want to look at modern furniture, especially those coming from German company.
Oh, how I love living in big cities! New York, Miami or Paris are some of the top places where I would like to rent an apartment. Unfortunately, this great experience can be costly, even if we are talking about renting a small apartment. Whether you live in the Big Apple or in a smaller city, you still have to decorate your apartment, and I like to believe that the piece of furniture that gives the style of the house is the couch. Ok, so lets choose a couch for your small apartment. Take it like a test of your organizational abilities, because there are many things you need to consider. The good news is that a smaller couch is a cheap couch. Shopping for furniture is fun unless you need to find a comfy couch that fits your apartment door. Given the fact that this will be the centerpiece of the living room, and perhaps the most used, the pressure of choosing the best couch can be high.
Once you find if the item is preassembled, you can double check the materials that were used. A sign of lower quality is the use of laminates instead of real hard wood. As an example, typically you can tell the difference in flooring from a laminated wood over a hard wood. Next, if the wood is not actually wood instead it is a particle board or MDF (medium density fiber board, somewhat like particle board) that cuts down on the construction material costs, lowers your price but typically reduces the quality of the piece. So your second question should be what are the materials in this hotel furniture?
2. The usage level depends on how much the couch will be actually used. Some prefer to choose a couch that matches with the rest of the furniture while others are more practical and select a comfy couch that fits their lifestyle (to be used by kids, friends, for watching TV). 3. The type of fabric is closely related to the level of usage. If your couch is used on a daily basis, leather and micro fibers are recommended, due to their resistance and easy maintenance. Natural fibers and cotton look great are less resistant to the wear and tear and spots are more difficult to remove.
