Ever wondered what kind of intense pressure Christiano Ronaldo must be going through every time he walks on to the field while playing for the hugely popular Manchester United? I know its the wrong kind of comparison, but kitchen furniture manufactures are almost always put in similar kinds of unenviable situations. After all, they have been entrusted with the onerous task of resurrecting our stolid kitchens. Wherever they go, their impeccable reputation precedes them. A reputation, which has been painstakingly built on years of selfless service to homeowners across the globe.
There has always been a clear distinction between kitchen furniture that is basic, cheap and purely functional and that which costs an extortionate amount of money with all the top end design features, superior materials and luxurious trimmings such as marble or granite worktops and state of the art technological innovations including integrated cooker, microwave oven, electro- mechanical waste disposal unit, video/audio systems, online integrated computer station facilities and integrated TV, to mention but a few. In fact, extravagant kitchen furniture is the realm of the very wealthy whose budget can buy the most expensive available whilst we would associate austere furniture with budget kitchens that are functional and of inferior quality comparatively speaking.
We remember the retro styles of the sixties, the cupboards with their formica/ melamine finish and doors with translucent glass centres. They were sparse in comparison to the average kitchen furniture of today and had little if any integrated appliances. They were however functional as regards providing food storage space and work top area and represented satisfaction in meeting the requirements of the average family. Strangely we see similar shape kitchens in minimalist styles today with smaller eye level cupboards and base units finished in glossy paint colours. The worktops are however can be in granite or marble and the kitchens themselves can be extremely expensive as they are now the cutting edge of latest kitchen designs and represent innovation. These kitchens are at the top end of the market as regards kitchen furniture and bear only a fleeting similarity to its predecessors of some fifty years ago.
Kitchen furniture styles range from rustic to modern. The size of your kitchen will play a vital role in determining the style in which you decorate. Large rustic pieces need to be in a large kitchen. Contemporary and traditional style wooden tables vary greatly in size. You can easily find a wooden table and various other matching pieces of kitchen furniture such as a buffet, side board, bakers rack, or hutch to match your table. Extension or drop leaf tables are excellent for small kitchens. Modern style tables such as the bistro style, bar height design, and bar pub table are relatively new designs that are ideal for small kitchens.
When you renovate your house to give a modish look, ensure that you give a touch up to your furniture pieces as well. Having old and dull looking furniture inside a chic looking house looks definitely out of place. The importance of kitchen furniture is a well known factor among women. Owning a modern looking kitchen definitely motivates you to cook well. If you are a person who is very conscious about cleanliness and maintenance, then there is no harm in purchasing expensive furniture, provided you have sufficient funds in your bank account. Rather than spending your savings on a single piece of kitchen furniture, be smart and invest in two or three pieces of utility furnishings.
Kitchen storage furniture includes anything from a sideboard to a shelving unit. This variety of kitchen furniture is usually only used in kitchens with lots of space. Most breakfast nooks will not have room for extra pieces of furniture after you get the table and chairs in. A sideboard is a thin piece of furniture that sits no more than two feet out from the wall. It usually has one or two cabinets and a series of drawers for storage. Table linens and china are the most common things stored there. Another popular storage furniture piece is the pantry cabinet. If you are not lucky enough to have a walk in pantry or a closet to use, then pantry cabinets are a great addition. It may seem like they take up a lot of room, but it is worth it. If you use regular cabinets to store your dry goods and canned goods, then there will be a lot of wasted space since you cannot see past the first few rows in a normal kitchen cabinet. Pantries will have shelves that are less deep or that come equipped with shelves on rollers so you can pull each shelf out like a drawer.
